La maison ensorcelée (1908)

La maison ensorcelée (1908) (The House of Ghosts in English) is a short silent French movie released in 1908. This film is directed by Spanish film maker Segundo de Chomón and is supposed to be one of the earliest films featuring a haunted house. It has some early stop motion animation and some really good effects which might look very ordinary to us today but taking into account of the time this film was made creating those effects were not an easy task.

The story in brief:

The film starts with the journey of three travellers, one lady and two men, through a countryside. They are caught in the middle of a thunderstorm and to escape from the heavy rains they take shelter in a house amidst a forest. But as soon as they enter the house they start to experience spooky things -  creepy figures appearing, things moving on their own, chairs vanishing, ghostly figure dancing around. At one point the whole room starts to tilt from left to right and then whirls along with the people inside. Then a demon appears and takes them with him. Watch the film to see what happens to the three people at the end.
