Sculpteur Moderne (Modern Sculptors) is a silent short film released in 1908. It is directed by Spanish film maker Segundo de Chomón. We can see the use of claymation in most of the last half of the film. It can be considered to be one of the oldest works of clay animation.
The story in brief:
A modern lady sculptor showcases her works in a theatre stage. But each and every work comes to life and makes some movement. First there's some stone sculptures, then she brings a marble like stone where the name of the production company, 'Pathé Frères' gets etched on its own. Then the lady brings a series of lump of clays. Each of them takes the shape of some animal and the animal starts moving too.
