Dark Lady is an English pop rock song from the album with the same name. The song was sung by American singer-actress Cher and was penned by Johnny Durrill who also happens to be the music composer of the song. Durrill was the keyboard player in the band The Ventures. Dark Lady was produced by Snuff Garrett. It topped the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1974 and was Cher's 3rd solo #1 hit.It also topped the chart in Canada and Sweden.

The animated video of the song was created by John David Wilson's studio, Fine Arts Films and was aired in the Sonny and Cher comedy hour, the later version.

Story of Dark Lady:

The song is about a young lady who had a chance meeting with a Gypsy fortune teller based in New Orleans. The young lady then visits the fortune teller who is referred to as the dark lady in the song. There the lady came to know that her lover is cheating on her and that too with someone known to her. The fortune teller then asks her to leave and never come back again and to forget about this meeting. The young lady who was utterly shocked at this revealation was unable to sleep that night. Suddenly she remembered smelling the same perfume that the fortune teller used in her own room. She again returned to the dark lady's place but this time loaded with a gun.
