The Spiritualist's Sword

L'épée du spirite (A Fallen Spirit / The Spiritualist's Sword in English) is a French silent comedy film released in 1910. The film is directed by Spanish film director Segundo de Chomón and has some sequences of stop motion animations along with live action.


The story in brief:

The short film shows a musketeer arrives at an inn and proudly shows off his magic sword. The excited innkeepers asks for a demonstration. Waving his sword the musketeer making a tablecloth appear on the table, followed by goblets, a centerpiece and dancing candelabras. Exhausted from his display, the musketeer goes to rest and soon falls asleep. Meanwhile, a kitchen boy enchanted by the performance, sneakes into the musketeer's room and steals the sword. Excited but clueless about its powers, he clumsily attempts his own magic trickswhich goes awry causing a loud commotion. The noise wakes up the musketeer, who realizes his sword is missing. He rushed downstairs and retrieves his sword and rescues the boy from trouble.
