Die geheimnisvolle Streichholzdose (A Match Box Mystery / The Mysterious Matchbox in English) is the first German animated film released in 1910. Directed by Guido Seeber, a German cinematographer and animator, this silent short features a blend of stop-motion animation and live action. Seeber was a pioneering figure in early German cinema.

The movie begins with a disabled man selling matches on a street. The majority of the scenes then highlight the matches arranging themselves into various shapes and structures, such as different objects, birds, animals, and human figures.
